Sea of Red, Toronto from the Stands. Oil on canvas, 16 x 20. A number of years ago, I took my daughters to a Canadian Women's soccer game at old BMO field. The women were playing against the United States. I felt such patriotism and was proud to see a sea of Red in the stands, and an amazing view of the city! In light of the tensions in the air between Canad...
On the Shores of Lake Huron, Goderich Ontario (oil on Canvas, 20 x16) was inspired by a trip to Goderich when I was mourning the passing of my mother. I stood on the cold Shores, with an overcast sky and wind in my face. Somehow, the place brought me comfort and a sense of peace and acceptance. The impact of the moment inspired me to paint it.
November View, Niagara-on- the- Lake, Ontario, Oil on Canvas, 8 x 10 (20 cm x 25.5 cm) . Such cold and icy waters. November continued to be an emotional month for me. I took a trip to @niagara.on.the.lake and walked down to the shores of Lake Ontario. Wind blowing, cold waters, overcast sky and a view of the American side with @oldfortniagara across the way....
Snowy fields, Ontario, Oil on Canvas, 8 x 10 (20 cm x 25.5 cm) What's more quintessentially Canadian than a red barn against a snow covered farmer's field. Wind blown and beautiful. Recently I came across this wonderful scene just north of the GTA and I had to paint it. We're all dreaming of a white Christmas so here's my addition. Simple and very @artfullya...
Follow Your Path, Oil on Canvas, 8 x 10 (20 cm x 25.5 cm) . We are in the middle of a polar vortex with temperatures dropping to as low as - 40 °c in some areas of the country. So I'm looking back to a day in August when I ran in the @5peaksrun at Crawford lake. My daughter signed me up for a 6.2 km run. I wasn't expecting it to be as challenging and as dyna...
A Yellow Moment, Oil on Canvas, 11 x 14, (28 cm x 36 cm). In Autumn of 2024, I couldn't paint while I was struggling with the passing of my mother. There were moments of profound sadness so I would occasionally go for a long run in the woods near where I live to think and deal with my emotions. On one such run I came across a beautiful place in the woods whe...
A Milton Sunset, Oil on Canvas, Milton Ontario, 11 x 14 (28 cm x 36 cm) On a cold Canadian winter evening, I came across a wonderful farm in the distance while on a drive through Milton Ontario. With the escarpment in the distance, and lights shining through trees, I witnessed a beautiful sunset with its passionate colours that seem to fire up the sky. It ma...
Night Skiing, Oil on Canvas, 11 x 14 (41 cm x 51 cm). Why do all the snow scenes seem to be subdued? I still want to push the envelope and let passion, colour and light be front and centre even when painting snow. If you've ever done some night skiing and happen to be on the slopes as the sun sets, you'll understand this scene. Whether in the Rockies, Lauren...
My Tulip Garden, Oil on Canvas, 18 x 24. I'm very excited about My Tulip Garden because it is completely done out of my imagination. I wanted it to be a blaze of colour; bright and vibrant. I also wanted to paint a sense of movement in the tulips and leaves with great depth between foreground and back. The flowers pop and move depending on where you stand to...
Light, Birds and Song, Oil on Canvas, 13 x 16 (33 cm x 40 cm) Framed No matter what season of the year, I love a beautiful bright and sunny day and the play of light through trees. I also love the beautiful song of each bird. Each has a melody and their song brings me such joy. I hear love in each. When many birds sing together, it's like a choir of joy, a c...
Winter Glow, Acrylic on Canvas board, 11 x 14 (41 cm x 51 cm) It has been so cold of late in the great white north. When you peel back the temperature and get outside on a sunny crisp day, spend some time exploring the the way the light shines on the crystalized snow and the play of colour in the shadows. On a walk recently I came across this scene that made...
This is an oil on Canvas, 21 x 17 framed. This painting has been signed, varnished and hung. It's ready for sale. I'm pleased with the depth of colour, the play of light and the way it truly has conjured up the spirit of Casson, a great Canadian Group of Seven artist who painted en plein air. I chose to paint this in a fusion of styles that mixes a little Ca...
Out of the Shadows, Oil on Canvas. 18 inches by 24 inches (61 cm x 46 cm). The painting has been completed using a new process that uses diluted oil paint layered systematically. The atmosphere and light in this works has punch. I feel this painting is sassy, has attitude and definitely has it's own soul. When we move out of the ever changing colours of the ...
Through the leaves, Oil on Canvas, 30 inches by 48 inches (76 cm by 122 cm) this painting was a true labour of love. It's a painting that is a metaphor for much more than it seems on so many levels. We can all choose to walk past the dried leaves in front of us, push past those distractions or barriers, walk through cold waters towards light and love. We can...
Classic Rock, Oil on Canvas, 24 inches (61 cm) x 30 inches (76 cm). Paintings are an interesting process because they are always more than one thing. Yes this is a painting of two trees on an outcrop rock Island in Georgian Bay on a hot and hazy summer day. No doubt about it. But it's also a metaphor of love against all odds with two intertwined and interwov...
